What do you get when you cross a budget car designed for India and a hot body kit from a Nissan Juke Nismo? It's called a Datsun Go Nismo, straight from your imagination to the screens of the computer screens, though extremely unlikely to go any further.
Graphics manipulator Theophilus Chin has played with the idea of a hot Datsun and came up with this design. Even though a car like this will never happen, there is a fundamental reason why it makes sense. You see, Datsun wasn't always Nissan's version of the Dacia brand. It used to sell some of the coolest Japanese cars ever, such as the 1600 SSS or the 240Z, the 370Z great-great-great-grandfather. The Datsun name is actually older than Nissan itself, first used on a car in 1931.
None of that mattered to Nissan's strategists, who are using the Datsun name in emerging markets to sell cheap cars without airbags and creature comforts. Not even Nissan can claim to have a fun small car like the one in our rendering.
Hope does, however, come from the recently established Nismo in-house tuning division. An abbreviation of Nissan and Motorsport, Nismo has already launched four tuned cars under its own name, the most notable of which being the GT-R Nismo, a 600 horsepower.
Let's imagine for a second that India is actually Europe and they want a small, fast hatchback under the Datsun brand. What would that be like? Well, a bit like the 106 GTi or the C2 VTS. Neither of those had that many features and nobody complained at the time. We guess that following the French formula, the Go Nismo would have to get a high-revving 1.6-liter engine… hypothetically speaking, of course.
