Thanks to Russians’ need to record all their daily driving to have undeniable poof for insurance companies in case something happens, we now have yet another bizarre event to see and haunt us for days.
A Russian driver going on a quite peaceful highway near the city of Yekaterinburg recorded a strange light on the cloudy night sky on 14th of November. It started at a low intensity but after a few seconds it intensified so much you could see the road ahead for miles, just before getting extinguished and leave people scratching their heads.

Many believe it was a meteorite that burned in the higher atmosphere and never hit the ground. Russian observatory engineer Vadim Krushinsky said however that flashes coming from such things are usually much brighter.

And to top that off, if it was a meteorite, why is the light not moving a bit a cross the sky? Was this some kind of experiment or bomb being detonated somewhere?

Military officials said they have nothing to do with the event. There are no military units based in the region and there are no training exercises undergoing as far as they know.

But there’s more

A secondary video has surfaced on the Internet which is filmed from a different angle. This shows that the light might not be coming from up in the sky, but from down on the ground.

You can notice there’s another bright light on the ground on the left and the huge one up in the sky is just a reflection of it due to the low clouds.

People from Serbia who saw the video say that this must have been something that exploded or intensely burned on the ground. They’ve seen things like these many times in 1999 during the NATO bombing on their country.

Still, this one appears to be totally silent from a distance. No one reported any explosion noises during the light up. Coincidence or not, the place where the light showed up is less than 200 km (124 mi) from where the Chelybiansk meteor glowed 30 times brighter than the sun last year.

Another viewer points out that there’s a very fast object flying by at the 13-second mark in the first video. It’s going to the right side from the area the “flame” is extinguishing. Still, we think that’s just a reflection of the headlights of an incoming car on the windshield.
