The difference between the earlier version and the just released concept is the additional comfort of a hidden rear suspension and the suspended seat, that delivers the hardtail look in a softail-style package ... or at least that is how the manufacturer adverts the product.
"The Brass Balls' Model 1S is the very essence of our bikes," explained Dar Holdsworth, Brass Balls Choppers' Bossman. "Built for an adrenaline rush, the Model 1S delivers outstanding performance in a Hot Rod inspired-package that accelerates, turns and stops at elapse times that rival muscle cars."
The Model 1S retails at $16,995 and comes in midnight black with wrinkle black tins, antique brass tank badge and wrinkle black or black chrome frame. “We are anti-chrome. Not in a hard core sort of way, but we feel you can have too much chrome on a custom," says Dar Holdsworth, owner of Darwin Motorcycles.
“We have a motto, which Aaron Glenn coined: ‘Chrome is a flashy substitute for lack of design.’ Given that, and with a delicate balance between shine and refine, we give the Scotch-Brite treatment to some items on the Model 1, while leaving other parts polished or chromed. We spend about an hour on the bike, taking Scotch-Brite to things like the outer lips of rims and hubs and parts of the primary drive. We also powdercoated the primary’s outer plate to match the tins,” added Dar.
As for the performance area, the new model features premium components, such as a Harley-Davidson 80” EVO, NASCAR supplier - Wilwood Brakes, Baker Transmission, Tauer machine belt drive, D&D Performance Enterprises’ exhaust, Metzeler tires and Excel controls.
