Danny Trejo’s Army of Two Million to Raid Area 51, Air Force Warns Against It

Not long ago, a weird Facebook event was created. Titled “Storm Area 51, They Can't Stop All of Us,” the event was meant as a joke, but it soon turned into a phenomenon that even caught the eye of the Air Force.

Probably fueled in part by the desire to find out exactly what the U.S. government is up to in the remote location in the Nevada desert, the event already drew 1.2 million confirmed participants and another million that are interested in it. And that's only at the time of this writing.

The huge crowd that responded to the event created by Facebook users Shitposting cause im in shambles, SmyleeKun and The Hidden Sound has quickly created a media frenzy, with tons of memes, hashtags and discussions on the topic.

The event seems to be so huge, that even the Danny Trejo and the U.S. government responded to it.

In a recent Twitter post, the actor posted a photo of himself holding a lightsaber-like machete, captioned “After leaving #Area51.”

The Air Force finds all this talk about its secret base less and less funny, and in a statement released to The Washington Post and CNN a spokesperson had this to say about the proposed raid:

"[Area 51] is an open training range for the U.S. Air Force, and we would discourage anyone from trying to come into the area where we train American armed forces. The U.S. Air Force always stands ready to protect America and its assets."

People writing on the event’s Facebook page seem not to care though, and most are posting maps of the area, complete with entry points, direction of movement for the civilian troops and so on.

The plan is to go in and “see them aliens” or, as some have begun suggesting, rescue them.

The event is scheduled to take place on September 20, when all those interested are to meet “at the Area 51 Alien Center tourist attraction” and move in a coordinated fashion from there.

Stay tuned.
