If you live in the Northern hemisphere, then this clip couldn't have come at a worse time. Well, technically a December launch would have been even more inappropriate, but early October is just as bad.
That's because after you watch it, you'll immediately want to jump on that bike you hook up to dry over winter in the garage and explore the countryside. Maybe cold temperatures and wet weather shouldn't be enough to put you off, but they sure don't make it any easier to enjoy the ride.

On the other hand, the clip was shot around Scotland's capital city of Edinburgh, so the fact they managed to find a few sunny days is remarkable even if they did film in the summer. Well, relatively sunny.

Danny MacAskill is one of the best-known trial riders, but most of his reputation wasn't built in actual competitions, but by featuring in very well directed short clips on the Internet. That doesn't take anything away from the unquestionable skills he has, but you have to put it down to the talent of the various people he's worked with on these little visual gems.

The "Wee Day Out" is the latest in a series that saw Danny perform his tricks in all sorts of different scenarios - from the green Scottish countryside to a surreal incursion into a child's toy collection. We've included some of his earlier work as well, just so you get the full spectrum of his abilities.

The video opens up with a shot of a steam train going over one of the viaducts of the famous Caledonian Express route that links Edinburgh to London. A few seconds later, we're already left mouth wide open after Danny jumps his bike off a platform and lands with both wheels on the same railroad track. Margin for error? Almost non-existent.

That's just a taste for things to come. The whole clip has a very warm feel to it, making Scotland look like the last place on Earth where people are still nice, and the nature is simply breathtaking. If Scotland's tourism bureau did not sponsor this film, it damn well should have because I've already opened a second tab to look for plane tickets to Edinburgh.

Expect to have a few giggles as well, and even laugh out loud on at least one occasion - you'll know which one. Danny's grandfather even makes an appearance wearing tartan trousers and speaking in that unmistakable Scottish accent, rounding off what is one of the best feel-good clips we've seen lately (thoroughly helped by Divine Comedy's "National Express" soundtrack. Make sure to stick to the end for all the bloopers and another good laugh.
