Danica Patrick Super Bowl Ad Banned by CBS

The "Super Bowl ads" war has started. As you might already know, the Super Bowl is the most viewed sport event of the year, so there is a lot of interest around the advertising time. Most of the big companies who haven’t had their pocket emptied by the recession will probably buy some air time during this event.

Though companies make the most of their Super Bowl air time, Danica Patrick’s NASCAR sponsor GoDaddy.com managed to get its money’s worth of publicity even before the big event.

GoDaddy.com bought two Super Bowl advertising spots where it was supposed to play two commercials featuring Danica Patrick. The first spot will air in the “Movies” ad, and shows Danica as Marilyn Monroe revisiting "Flashdance" and "Weird Science". The second spot was supposed to be "Lola," the story of a ficticious effeminate football player-turned-lingerie designer who turns to GoDaddy.com for help in organizing his online business.

We say that “Lola” was supposed to air because the spot was rejected by CBS. The banning of the spot couldn’t have come at a better time, as the marketing department at GoDaddy.com made the most of it, inviting everyone to see the forbidden ad on their website.

Instead of the “Lola” ad, GoDaddy.com decided to air "News," a commercial that goes after the CBS decision and invites viewers to the GoDaddy.com website to see the spot.If you would like to see the ads, go see Go Daddy's internet only commercials.

Alongside starring in the ads to be played during the Super Bowl, Danica Patrick will also have her first stock car event ARCA's season opening Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 in Daytona Beach.
