Danica Patrick Is the First Woman to Win NASCAR Pole Position

Danica Patrick became the first woman to a win NASCAR pole position after the Stewart-Haas team driver set the fastest speed during Saturday's qualifying session for the Daytona 500.
With a speed of 196.434 miles per hour, Danica Patrick earned pole position for the Sprint Cup Daytona 500 race on Sunday and she even recorded the fastest speed in qualifying for this event since 1990.

"You can do anything you want to do, and gender doesn't matter. Now I'm probably gonna grab some beers," said Patrick after the run. Anybody else here that still believes all women are awful drivers?

For the Wisconsin-born driver this will be the first full year in the Sprint Cup, and she will be driving a Stewart-Haas Chevrolet SS along team mates Tony Stewart and Ryan Newman.

The 2013 Daytona 500 will take place on Sunday, February 24. Until then, you can watch Patrick's amazing performance below:
