Dani Pedrosa Still in Pain, Can't Wait for Sepang

Dani Pedrosa, the 2007 MotoGP season runner-up, is still in pain after the Phillip Island injury but hopes that he can take up the pressure and get a good result in Malaysia. Pedrosa fell off the bike right in the first lap of the Australian Grand Prix and, due to his previous accidents and injuries, he is not fully fit for the upcoming race. However, Pedrosa and his team are confident that they can record a solid performance, which could keep the rider on the third position of the World Championship, in front of his rival Jorge Lorenzo.

“I had a very good feeling at Sepang in pre-season testing before the crash. I had a good pace from the beginning and I hope to start this weekend in the best way with the new bike and tyres. I've got still some pain from the accident, my left knee is a bit swollen, but I hope I will soon be in perfect condition,” Dani Pedrosa said according to Crash.net.

Moreover, Pedrosa hopes that a good bike configuration could compensate for his physical condition. “The circuit of Sepang is an interesting track. It is quite long with a good combination of right-handers and left-handers, many of which are quite long. The motorcycle needs tyres of a tough compound for this race, and tyres play a very important role in the heat,” the Repsol Honda rider added.

Dani Pedrosa is currently the third in the overall MotoGP standings with a total of 209 points while Jorge Lorenzo comes fourth with 182 points. Pedrosa gave a solid performance this season, winning two Grands Prix, one pole-position and finishing on the second place for three times. More importantly, he finished second last year, with 125 points less than the champion Casey Stoner but above Valentino Rossi with an advantage of a single point.
