Dani Pedrosa went to Barcelona straight after Repsol Honda concluded the testing session at Valencia, and his destination was the Quiron Dexeus University Hospital.

Doctor Xavier Mir, a well-known presence in MotoGP's medical area, operated Pedrosa to remove the plate and 13 screws installed in his right collarbone. The plate got there after Dani Pedrosa was involved in a crash with Marco "Super Sic" Simoncelli during the 2011 French GP.

Back then, Pedrosa had an osteosynthesis surgery, which brought his broken collarbone back together and kept in place with the aforementioned plate and screws.

As the bone suture completed and the plate was no longer needed, its removal was the smart thing to do. Dani Pedrosa will need a rest period of up to two weeks to allow the wound to fully heal.

Cal Crutchlow is probably the next MotoGP rider who will undergo surgery for his swollen forearm, as we reported earlier. It may be some a winter break for the riders, but for some, it's also "pay day" for the injuries sustained through the year.
