When Mark Zuckerberg thought there was a need for a platform where people could express themselves, brag about their (small) problems, a place where they can pose statuses, pictures for others to like, some people were skeptic about it. Since we all know how that idea turned out, who are we to blame a poker player that wishes for a great car collection, a Playboy lifestyle and a socialite bank account even though he doesn't actually owns any of them?
You might ask yourselves how is Dan Bilzerian connected to the founder of Facebook or any other creator of a great social network for that matter. Well, it has something to do with people’s almost genetic urge for pride, the need to be appreciated. Everybody needs to feel they belong; that they are part of a bigger thing.
The poker player from Tampa, Florida has created a possible new way to make money: becoming a celebrity through acting like a famous person without ever being one. We couldn’t care less what Bilzerian does to make people buy his stories, but seeing all these petrolheads being fooled by his flashy car posts on Instagram made us reconsider.
We’re not saying the 34-year-old fellow doesn’t own a couple of them, such as the Mercedes-Benz Brabus G63 AMG 6x6 or the 1965 Shelby Cobra replica (even though we're still not sure).
Other than these two, we’re not convinced he owns anything else. After all this time of pretending he’s living some socialite's life, Bilzerian seems like he’s finally growing up a little. He recently posted an image of a BMW i8 sitting next to a convertible Ferrari admitting he rented them for his Miami trip.
Most of the sexy women he parties with are, in fact, models who he most likely pays for to pose for flashy pictures. So now we’re wondering if there’s anything true about the poker player other than his "marketing strategy".
