The rise of electric motorcycles promises to bring about a complete change in what it means to ride a bike. And we’re not only talking about riding with no emissions, but having access to technologies never-before thought possible.
We’re already seen in the past few years how technology is reshaping the industry, providing better communication tools for riders, for instance, as well as tools for better situational awareness. But this upcoming bike should be something special entirely.

While most startups doing business in this sector are focusing on coming up with the best electric powertrain, Canadian startup Damon thought it’s best to look first into how a bike ride could be made safer and more comfortable.

Enter the Hypersport Pro, a bike that will be shown in the flesh at CES 2020 in January. And not just any bike, but a very self-aware one.

Looking much more conventional than other electric motorcycles, the Hypersport hides a secret: just like the cars of our day, it is packed with cameras, sensors and radar, all ran by an artificial intelligence.

The full system is called CoPilot (yes, the same name Ford uses) and is meant to permanently scan the surroundings for dangers. And not only that, but will also notify the rider of what is going on.

After detecting a danger, CoPilot sends warning to the rider as follows: forward-collision warnings are felt in the grips as haptic feedback, rear collision alerts are displayed on the windscreen edge, and so are the blind spot alerts.

All this awareness should, in theory, create a virtual bubble of safety around the rider and the bike.

As far as comfort is concerned, the Hypersport will be highly adjustable to the road conditions and ride style. Most of the bike’s elements - windscreen, seat, footpegs and handlebars – can reposition themselves to serve a variety of needs.

There is no word yet on what powertrain the bike uses because apparently the company is not done creating its own in-house hardware.
