In an interview with Elle Magazine, one of the few performers who can pride themselves with the Triple Crown of Acting confirmed to be in the cast of Fast 8 in an unceremoniously bland manner: “Yes, I am.” That performer is the one and only Dame Helen Mirren, an actress I love and lady I have utmost respect for.
If you turn back time to 2014, then you’ll remember that Helen did a pretty interesting interview with The Huffington Post. The foretelling interview went as follows: “Little-known fact: Helen Mirren, stunt driver. I’d love to be in a Fast & Furious movie. I keep putting feelers out. I’d love to do Fast & Furious. I love Vin Diesel as well. He doesn’t understand, I think he’s so cool.”

Need I say anything more about why she was handpicked by Vin Diesel and director F. Gary Gray?

OK, here’s a spoiler alert: Helen will be driving in the upcoming movie in he Fast & Furious franchise. That was one of the conditions on her part. The actress fell in love with on-camera driving when she was filming The Queen, a drama about the British Royal Family and their sorrows following Princess Diana’s death.

In the movie, Dame Helen Mirren drives a Land Rover Defender through the Scottish countryside. Here’s another spoiler alert: the actress, who portrays Queen Elizabeth II, damages the car while crossing a river. Still, Landies were cheap at the time the movie was filmed, not the high-priced machines they are today.

So, what role will Helen play in Fast 8? Without any reference whatsoever, the Wikipedia page for Fast 8 reads that Dame Helen Mirren will play “Magdalena, an ex-CIA agent recruited by Hobbs to help Dom's crew defeat Cipher.” Cipher who? That Cipher portrayed by Charlize Theron, man! Therefore, the cast of Fast 8 doesn’t have one, but two Oscar-winning female actresses that know how to kick ass. How cool is that?

These said, the Fast 8 movie will premiere in the United States on April 14, 2017.
