Dallara: F1 Project at Risk Due to External Factors

Italian chassis constructor Dallara admitted that their involvement in Formula One this season has been slowed down by factors outside their control. Talking to the media about his company's Formula One project with Campos Meta, Dallara owner and boss Gian Paolo Dallara made it very clear that his engineers proceeded faultless in setting up a competitive chassis for the 2010 campaign for the Spanish team.

I can say with pride that we have done a good job in design and development, all safety (crash) tests have been passed and production has gone ahead. Unfortunately, factors outside our control are slowing the process down, but I am confident that we can find solutions so that our work is not lost,” said the 73-year old, as reported by the GMM news agency.

Dallara has been contacted by Campos to build their chassis for the 2010 championship, the Spanish outfit is currently experiencing financial difficulties prior to its official debut in Formula One. The one effect that has on Dallara's operations is that the debts towards the Parma based company are getting bigger and bigger.

According to reports issued in the media earlier this month, Dallara is currently considering selling the design of their 2010 F1 chassis to either Stefan GP or US F1. The Serbian outfit already has a valid, strong 2010 challenger in Toyota's former F1 car TF110, but their desire to buy Campos' chassis is justified by their aim to take the Spanish team's place in the 2010 entry list.

US F1, on the other hand, is a less likely possibility for Dallara to sell their chassis to, as the North American outfit is also experiencing financial problems lately. In addition, the North Carolina-based organization already has a car ready to make its track debut in due time, meaning there would be no reason in purchasing a brand new chassis prior to the Bahrain GP. Which means Dallara might have built a good, reliable F1 chassis through the last few months for nothing.
