Today, as I was coming to work, I was having a chat with a good friend of mine that’s working at BMW. He and I both agreed that the current colors offered by the Bavarian company are not nearly enough for the tastes of their customers.
Sure, the BMW brand is appealing to somewhat more serious customers and different shades of white, black and blue have always been popular but some more contrast wouldn’t be bad in our opinion. As I was driving to work, I started thinking about what BMW could do in this regard.
The obvious choice would be to introduce more colors as standard or to offer them as optional extras but with a small price increase. That’s what they are trying at the moment, the new M3 and M4 coming out with a couple of interesting choices including Yas Marina Blue, Austin Yellow and Sakhir Orange, all of them well liked around here.
But that’s not nearly enough. If you want more, you have to dwell into the Individual range and that’s where we’re sure you’re going to get your fix. Just like this gentleman here.
The car you’ll be looking at is a 2015 BMW F80 M3 dressed in what’s known as Dakar Yellow and it was first spotted in Overland Park, Kansas. It belongs to a Bimmerpost member and received a big reaction when it was first introduced to the forum. As for the color, it was first introduced on Bimmers along with the E36 3 Series and it’s still extremely rare because of its ... interesting hue. It’s rather fade if you will.
Now, so many years later, we’re seeing it make a subtle comeback. First it was on the E46, then on the E90 series and now on the F80. Sure, it costs a pretty penny but it might just be worth it. What do you think?
