Dakar 2015 Presented in Paris, Honda Massively Involved with the Rally

The outlines of the 2015 edition of the Dakar Rally have been recently presented in Paris, France. The next year’s rally will take place in South America, just like we already knew, taking all the competitors through Argentina, Bolivia and Chile. It’s the second year with Dakar routes reaching Bolivia, a country which proved to put the competitors through quite a lot of hardships.

For the third time in a row, HRC will be massively involved in the rally, Honda being chosen as the “Dakar’s Official Bike” as well as the “Official Supplier”. After a huge absence from the starting line of the Dakar, Honda has made quite a strong and promising comeback in the 2013 edition. With a total of 5 official riders, Honda’s best placement was Helder Rodrigues who finished in the 5th position, and his team mates Joan Barreda and Javier Pizzolito finishing the 2013 Dakar 7th and 23rd fastest, respectively.

Even more, Honda also scored a victory in the ladies’ ranks, with Laia Sanz 16th in the overall charts, riding a pre-production model. The “production racer” version of the CRF450 Rally will soon become available for interested privateers.

Honda is also expected to announce the definitive factory line-up for the Dakar 2015 shortly, though no official date was named. The Dakar 2015 will take place between January 4th and January 17th and will set off from Argentine’s capital city of Buenos Aires, and crossing into Bolivia and Chile. Halfway through the rally, the Chilean city of Iquique will accommodate the competitors for a rest day.

Buenos Aires will also be the end point of the 37th edition of the Dakar rally. Given the different marathon stages riders will have to complete, the rest day will be differentiated between the classes, official Dakar sources inform.
