Dainese D-Air Street Airbag System Develops Further

With Dainese being one of the world's best motorcycle protective gear manufacturer, it's small wonder that they are also in the lead when it comes to the next big step in 2-wheels safety: airbags.
We are really glad to see that manufacturers show more and more interest in the field of motorcycle airbag technology: the initial stage has been long passed, and now we're getting closer to products which will really make the difference.

After successfully implementing their airbag technology the racing suits, it was only a matter of time until a street-oriented version was created. Here's the Dainese D-Air Street system, offering almost full coverage of the torso and dramatically improving shock absorption.

With the ribs being a critical impact area and being able to cause life-threatening lesions due to lung or heart perforation, the torso protection offered by the Dainese D-Air Street is said to be really heartening.

Dainese claims the D-Air Street provides 75% better shock protection for the impact occurring in the back of the rider, while the front impact shock reduction is down by a staggering 89%. These forces have been measured against a CE2 back protector and a CE chest one, respectively.

We are looking forward to find out more details on the new Dainese D-Air Street. However, one thing is clear: the airbag system will no longer be triggered by lanyards and similar devices, as it now relies on the Superbike and MotoGP proven electronic technology. Just ask Valentino Rossi or Leon Haslam about it..
