Apart from the EUR 170 million which Daimler AG will invest into a Brazilian assembly plant for the Mercedes-Benz GLA and the upcoming C-Class W205, the truck part of the German car giant just announced it will invest another EUR 300 million in two commercial vehicle plants in the South American country.
The equivalent of around one billion Brazilian real, the commercial vehicle investment is actually part of an investment package of around 2.5 billion real from 2010 to 2015.

“Today, Brazil is the most important sales market for our trucks with the star worldwide. We have faith in the further growth potential of this important market. Therefore, we will continue to invest in new products and state-of-the-art production facilities here.” said Stefan Buchner, Head of Mercedes-Benz Trucks Europe and Latin America.

“With a total volume of 2.5 billion Brazilian real and a term of six years, we have put together an extensive investment package. These investments will increase the competitive power of our company on this competitive commercial vehicles market.” added Philipp Schiemer, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Mercedes-Benz do Brasil.

Around 1.4 million trucks and 600,000 buses and bus chassis wearing the three-pointed star have been built in Brazil since the Stuttgart car brand was first represented in the country back in 1956.
