Daimler to Hire 10,000 People in 2011

Having achieved a great deal of success last year, German automotive group Daimler is now planning to do what any respectable company of its size would do: expand its business to insure further growth.

The group announced today that, for it to be able to sustain the fast pace of growth, the addition of a considerable work force is needed. Consequently, the member companies of the Daimler group will be hiring this year no less than 10,000 people worldwide.

Of that, 4,000 people will be hired in Germany alone, with 6,700 skilled workers and 700 graduates to be recruited directly. Planning even further into the future, Daimler will also allow 1,900 apprentices to start working for it this year offering positions for 600 trainees in its CAReer trainee program and for more than 200 students at the Duale Hochschule.

“As the inventor of the automobile, we intend to be at the forefront of shaping the transformation of our industry. That’s why we are making enormous investment not only in research and development, but also in the recruitment and training of the best young talent and skilled workers,” said Wilfried Porth, Daimler member of the board for Human Resources.

“We can only deliver top performance with the help of a first-class workforce. Our human resources policy stands on two pillars: the continuous encouragement and support of young talent along with the recruitment of highly qualified skilled workers and graduates with work experience.”

By announcing the new hiring campaign, Daimler is on track of becoming one of the largest employers in the world. The group is already responsible for the lives of 260,100 people worldwide, more than half of them in Germany.

The exact job openings will be announced by Daimler throughout the year.
