Daimler Launches iPhone App

The app bug has taken hold of the automotive manufacturers so bad that no day passes by without us hearing something from someone in this field. While the American car makers have discovered the benefits of smartphones to their business, the German ones are only beginning to scratch the surface.

Daimler, one of the biggest players on both the German and the global markets, announced today it was launching a new app for the iPad and iPhone, which would allow users to explore the Daimler world at will.

First of all, the app is a portal to the group's different websites, complete with group announcements, overviews of the mobile presence, other available apps from the group and product areas. As a bonus, Daimler also included in the new app the latest vacancies within its ranks.

"Mobile internet use is a matter of course for our customers and will continue to grow in significance in the future too. As an innovation and technology leader , we want to stay abreast of this change and also develop our future mobile services even further in a customer-oriented manner,
” said Jorg Howe, Daimler head of Communications.

“The fact that we are relying on the latest technologies goes without saying. This is why at group events, for example, and in adverts for our company and our brands, we are now already making increasing use of so-called QR codes to point to additional information on company mobile websites."

The app, which can be used on the iPhone or iPad, can be downloaded for free from the Apple Store and comes complete with webspecials on group brands and products, new technologies and different events. Aside for being an info hotspot, the app can also be used as a tool, as it comes complete with features like parking reminder and rest brake assistant.
