Swiss tuner, Dahler, put together a rather special BMW M235i Convertible, a model that they claim is previewing how the M2 will be like when it comes out later this year. That’s some big talk to be honest and they did get us curious to see what they are boasting with.
The standard M235i Convertible is a great car to begin with. With the M Performance parts on it, the drop top uses a particular version of the N55 3-liter inline 6-cylinder engine that makes 326 HP and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque. The best part about it is that you can have it with the xDrive all-wheel drive system and get even better acceleration numbers.

In standard guise, the M235i xDrive Cabriolet does the 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.9 seconds which is pretty damn fast for a car weighing 1,745 kg (3,847 lbs) but the Dahler alternative we’re looking at here is more on par with the M4 Coupe to be honest.

That’s because the tuner took it up to 390 HP, which is even more than what the upcoming M2 is rumored to have at its disposal. That was achieved using a new ECU map as well as a stainless steel sport exhaust and a new intake. The result is a car that will accelerate to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.2 seconds which, as I said, is on par with the M4 Coupe and faster than the Cabriolet version by 0.2 seconds.

Impressed or not, the car also looks good with a new set of wheels sitting neatly under the fenders thanks to some careful chassis tuning involving a new set of coil overs that allow you to adjust the way they work in 18 different settings. We’re definitely interested to see how this thing would hold its own against the M2 for example. We’ll have to wait a couple more weeks for that to happen, though, unfortunately.
