Daft Punk, the famous electronic music duo which marked a spectacular comeback to the industry with its Random Access Memories studio album, has teamed up with the Lotus Formula One team ahead of the 2013 Monaco Grand Prix.
To mark the occasion, a short clip featuring Romain Grosjean’s single-seater and Daft Punk’s Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter was launch on the web. Directed by Jonas Akerlund, the video showcased the new Daft Punk-branded racecar, which sports the duo’s name, as well as the already familiar, yet awkward helmets worn by the two and the “Get Lucky” phrase.
To support their car, the French duo also showed up at the Monaco Grand Prix, but Romain Grosjean wasn’t lucky enough to finish the race and had to retire 15 laps before the finish line after a collision.
The Daft Punk - Lotus F1 gimmick was possible after the British team signed a partnership with the artist’s record label, Columbia. Scroll below to watch the result in the “Daft Punk Lotus F1” video.
