Dad Puts His 18-Year-Old Pot-Smoking Son's SUV on Sale to Get Him Back on Track

Everybody thinks they're a good parent, but then, miraculously, we notice there are plenty of bad kids around. These kids grow up, they think they'll make excellent parents, they have children of their own, and so the cycle is perpetuated.
But that's not the only way an apple will rot, so to say. Sometimes, it's all down to a cumulus of conditions that nobody is really at fault for. I mean, you have no reason to suspect Mr. Allan Gieger of being a bad parent. He might have been a little absent in his son's life, but that's only because he had to work harder to afford a better life for him and his son.

He even went and got him a 1998 Ford Explorer truck as his first car. It was supposed to help him "finish school in, get a decent hob and get a head start in life," but the junior had other plans with it. Do you think a dad who buys a 17-year-old SUV is a man made of money? No need to answer that.

However, his son isn't very appreciative, to say the least, so he started using the Explorer to "drive around with his friends smoking dope and acting all thug." You can imagine how this kind of attitude would hurt a working man who knows life can be tough sometimes, but you have to stay on the right path regardless. So, what does a father do in this situation?

Well, modern parenting techniques would suggest having a talk with the boy, explaining why he needs to reassess his priorities and change his lifestyle. Still, it might have been a little too late for that, so this father chose to post the SUV on Craigslist, asking $1,500 for it. It's not exactly in top condition, but if you're lucky, you might find some $100 worth of marijuana left between the seats. Just make sure you find it first and not the police...

Well, people don't agree with modern parenting, apparently, since a lot of them were very supportive of Mr. Gieger's decision. Two days later, he had become a minor celebrity on the Internet with messages of support coming in from all over the country. But if you read the whole ad, you can tell the father is really upset with his son because he's even offering a $250 discount for the locals, just so his son might get the chance of seeing the car drive by now and then and remember "how good he had it." Wow, that's almost evil.

"I have my sons truck up for sale that I bought for him as his first car, he thinks it's cool to drive around with his friends smokin dope and acting all thug and especially not showing me and my wife the respect that we deserve. This was a vehicle to finish school in, get a decent job and get a head start on life but chose to throw it all away because his friends would rather have an influence on him more than me! Now he can put those Jordans to use walk his ass off on these hot summer days! It has ice cold air and power everything! It's dirty as hell inside and out because he didn't respect it and take pride, seems to drive well but needs a few parts because it squeaks! I just put new tires on it that he never paid me for because dope was more important and driver seat doesn't come all the way up, I guess cause cops kept riding by! If you live on the WESTSIDE I'll take $250 off the price just so he sees it every now and then so it'll remind him of how good he had it! I have title in hand!"
