The main Dacia plant, located in Mioveni, Romania, stopped it’s production on Wednesday this week, due to its angry workers and their demands.
Fearing mass layoffs due to contracts not being signed in time and their 25% salary increase request that was not fullfilled, the workers stopped their activity on Wednesday morning and went on a strike.
Also, they accuse the plant’s management of overworking them and for being intensively alcohol-tested before entering the facility. They said that a car has to exit the production line every 40 seconds.
Dacia’s management team claimed that the strike is illegal because the “couple hundred workers” that went striking represent under 20% of the total number of employees, and according to this, they will not be paid for the time spent on strike. The workers got angrier and went on strike again this morning.
The strike ended after just two hours, the workers being assured that the management has accepted a part of their demands. Also they said that the negotiations will be resumed next week.
