Dacia is already offering Bosch's ABS as standard on all Sandero models sold in Europe but the Romanian manufacturer is apparently planning to go one step forward and also include EBD and EBA in the low-cost hatchback car. Renault, Dacia's parent company, hasn't issued a comment on the subject, so we're still waiting to find out which are the models/trims to get the upgrade.
A thing worth mentioning is that the newly-announced Dacia Sandero Stepway, already on sale in Brazil as Renault Sandero Stepway, will also feature Bosch 8.1 ABS with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD) and emergency brake assist (EBA) so it's still ambiguous whether this upgrade is actually referring to the Stepway version in particular or to the whole Sandero range.
Meanwhile, everybody is waiting the European launch of the Stepway, with the new model expected to go on sale on the Old Continent as soon as September 2009. However, order books are due to open in July 2009 so, in case you'd want to reserve a car, you could do it in approximately one month.
To give you an idea on the Stepway, it will be powered by two engine configurations, depending on the market: a 1.6-liter petrol unit developing 90 horsepower and a dCI 70 diesel powerplant. In addition, the Stepway is capable of achieving a fuel consumption rating of 7.6 l/100 km (30.9 mpg) for the gasoline and 5.3 l/100 km (44.3 mpg) for the diesel.
