Romanian car brand Dacia today released some interesting sketches showing how the initial design of the new Logan and Sandero progressed. These date back to at least about 3 years ago, before testing on the cars actually began.
Some of the more complicated design elements have since been removed, but the essence of the cars is still visible. For example, those powerful shoulder lines are clearly there to demonstrate a more upmarket attitude to car design.

Also, the shape of the new Dacia grille conveys power and width. Even we were fooled into saying these cars were much wider than their predecessors.

Dacia’s model rethink this year was positively huge. So unlike the Duster, which had been previewed, the new compacts had concepts before them. But designers must have been thinking of making a concept car first, sine they would have known that tapered C-pillar on the Sandero restricts visibility. The same feature had been applied to the Duster concept before hand, and it’s an interesting design element.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
