Want to know the new formula for low costs cars? It’s called the Dacia Logan II, though Renault would probably rather we called it the “New Logan”. The affordable sedan has practically become synonymous with the Romanian car brand ever since it was launched in 2004.
The successor to the Logan will be launched at the Paris Motor Show 2012, and we’ve been closely following the progress of various prototypes, which have been testing under heavy camouflage.
Finally, we can show you what the production version of the Logan II will look like, thanks to some official photos that were leaked by the automaker and fell into the hands of French publication Automobile Magazine.
As you can see, the new Logan is much more striking than the model it replaces. The front end takes a bit from the Duster SUV, but makes everything look crisper and sharper. The grille has a mesh backing and twin chrome bars holding the Dacia logo in place.
The side profile is virtually the same as the current car, except the lower part of the doors and the wing mirrors. For its Paris debut, the Dacia Logan II even has foglights and small alloy wheels, hough we expect both will be optional.
The interior is also changed, featuring the same 7-inch infotainment LCD display in the center console. The seats, the gearshift lever, the steering wheel and the dashboard all seem to be much better designed as well.
Company officials said there are going to be technical similarities between the old and the new Logan, so presumably, some powertrains like the 1.6-liter petrol will be carried over. But Dacia will also introduce a new 1.2-liter turbo with 115 horsepower to the top of the engine range, a motor that will be produced in Romania alongside with the car.
