Dacia Duster to be Launched in May

The Dacia Duster light SUV will, most probably, be launched in May as Jack Chauvet, Executive Council President of the automaker revealed in a statement for Mediafax.

He added that the car’s production version will almost certainly be reveled to the media one month earlier.

According to Chauvet, we will have to wait until the Geneva Auto Show to get some information about the all-important price of the car. “The Duster will offer excellent value for money,”, Chauvet was quoted as saying by Mediafax. He mentioned that this ratio will be similar to the one offered by the Dacia Logan.

As we’ve already reported, the Dacia Duster is a compact SUV, with the car measuring 4.31 m in length and 1,82 m in width. It will be available in both 4x2 and 4x4 versions. The latter has three operating modes: two-wheel drive, Auto and Lock. The car has a ground clearance of 200 mm and features a 30 degree angle of attack and a 35 degree angle of departure.

Thanks to its compact size, the Duster has a weight of 1180 kilograms in the 2wd version, with the awd model adding 100 kilograms to that. The SUV’s engine range includes a 1.6 liter 16v 110 HP petrol unit and two versions of the 1.5 dCI engine, one with 85 HP and one that offers 105 HP. All engines have already been introduced on other Renault vehicles.

As for the interior space, the vehicle will be able to accommodate five passengers and 475 liters of luggage (depending on the version). When the rear seats are folded, the luggage capacity is increased to 1,600 liters (again, depending of the version).

The Duster may prove to be a champion-seller, just as the Logan did, as long as Chauvet’s promises about the price will be kept.
