In the 100 days or so since Dacia started taking orders for the Duster SUV in the UK, over 1,000 pre-orders have been made. Interestingly, buyers were not attracted just to the £8,995 entry price, since lots of people went for the top-spec Lauréate and 4x4 versions.
These order figures are impressive when you consider no buyer in the UK has been able to see or drive a right-hand-drive UK-specification car on British soil. Only left-hand-drive demonstration vehicles were available at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
"We always knew Dacia had the potential to tap into a stagnant UK new car market," commented Dacia’s Marketing Director, Phil York. "Our Duster flagship is off to a great start even before we’ve received our first right-hand-drive shipment."
The Duster for the UK market will be assembled in India, a market where 20,000 orders have been racked up in three months.
