Usually, when a new brand of cars enters an unfamiliar market, it takes years of good sales performance and customer satisfaction for their offerings to be considered low-depreciating vehicles and be recommended as a sound financial proposition.
However, it seems that Dacia's entry onto the UK market (full editorial here, analyzing the brand's entry onto the UK market) proves that statement wrong, as the Romanian brand's Duster SUV is reportedly one of the best depreciation-beating motors in the country.

Not only is it the country's most affordable SUV, but it will also retain up to 34% of its value after three years or 60,000 miles, which is just 2% down on its much pricier rivals. Furthermore, according to the UK's leading residual value information provider, CAP, it will depreciate by up to £3,260 less than its more expensive rivals.

Also, it was first suspected that the British buyers would steer clear of the entry level Access version of the Duster, which gets little in the way of luxury (it has wind-up windows on the front, for instance), but in actual fact, there`s already a five-month waiting list for those interested in buying it.

Dacia's UK Marketing Director, Phil York, had something to say on the matter: “We know that the Dacia Duster is a great package for anyone after a practical, reliable and affordable SUV. CAP’s view just reaffirms our belief that its got bucketloads of appeal for British buyers. After living with one, I doubt most owners will ever want to be parted from their trusty Duster. But, if they do have to sell it, or maybe even trade it in for a newer Dacia, they won’t be hugely out of pocket. I can’t help but think the residual value forecast for Sandero is going to blow the competition away too, in the not too distant future.”
