Dacia Builds the 50,000th Sandero

Dacia recently built the 50,000th Sandero which rolled out of the assembly line in Mioveni on November 19. The so called special car is a bleu marine Laureate and will be sold on the Romanian market.

The Sandero was launched at the beginning of June, this year, and it is known to be a hit in Romania, where they sold 7,500 units by the end of October. France comes in second with 4,903 units, followed by Germany with 4,710 units and Spain with about 1,500 units.

The Sandero's entry price is established at 6,890 euros including VAT, in Romania. The car includes ABS, and a 3-year or a 100.000-km warranty as standard and two petrol engines (1.4MPI with 75 Hp and a 1.6 MPI with 90 HP). Diesels will be available from the beginning of the next year.

The plant located in Mioveni isn't the only one producing the Sandero. This car is also assembled in Brazil, at the Ayrton Senna plant under the Renault brand, and in Columbia at the SOFASA plant. In 2009 the model will be manufactured in three other countries: Morocco, Russia, and South Africa.

Although it seems to be going well, Dacia decided to cease its production from the November 20 until the December 7, 2008. The new car market fell in October 2008 as opposed to October 2007 by 30% in Romania, by 40% in Spain, by 23% in Great Britain, by 22.7% in Sweden, by 18.9% in Italy, by 8% in Germany and by 6.2% in France.
