Dacia Ambiance Prime Special Edition Adds Value to the Lineup

Dacia, the Romanian carmaker owned by Renault and known for its “shockingly affordable” mantra, has launched a special edition for the Sandero supermini, Logan MCV estate, and Duster crossover. At a premium of £500 over the Ambiance trim level, the Ambiance Prime edition offers additional equipment that’s worth as much as £1,190.

Already on sale in the United Kingdom, Ambiance Prime models are finished in an exclusive metallic color christened Chestnut. That’s a bit of a downer considering that dark brown is a poor color for a car.

The lowest this special edition goes is the Sandero Ambiance Prime 1.2 16V 75, priced at £7,295. A frugal turbo diesel engine is also available in the form of the 1.5-liter dCi 90 (£9,095), as is a 3-cylinder turbo with 90 horsepower and 140 Nm (103 lb-ft) on tap. At the upper end of the spectrum lies the Duster Ambiance Prime dCi 110 4x4, priced at £14,495. When you think about it, that’s not that much for a crossover with a longer wheelbase than the Mazda CX-3.

Other than the Chestnut paint, Ambiance Prime models come as standard with alloy wheels, fog lights, Bluetooth, a radio with USB and AUX inputs, front power windows, 60/40 split-folding rear seats, traction control, stability control, and Emergency Brake Assist. The Media Nav 7-inch touchscreen sat nav system is a £300 option that is worth having, as are the rear parking sensors (£250). For cost-conscious drivers that want something extra in every sense, the Ambiance Prime shapes up to be a tempting proposition.

In related news, since it was launched in the United Kingdom in January 2013, Dacia has sold over 70,000 cars in the 21st most populous country in the world. That's quite a big deal for the Romanian brand. 25,228 cars were sold in 2015, an impressive 10 percent increase in sales compared to 2014. Good for you, Dacia!
