For those who are planning to check out this year’s SEMA show in Las Vegas, you’ll want to know that Chevrolet has joined the automakers who ask celebrities to design special edition models. They’ve done so with a 2016 Silverado truck that was inspired by Kid Rock’s big hit “Born Free” and it’s here to celebrate freedom and honor American workers.
The customized 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD “dually” was introduced today at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, joining other special Chevy truck concepts designed to showcase the brand’s values.

Kid Rock - who some may know as the “All Summer Long” singer - visited the Silverado HD assembly line in Flint, Michigan, where he met with the members of UAW Local 598 - the garage that took care of the job. He then drove the truck to Chevrolet’s design studio to share his ideas.

“The Flint plant - and everyone on the line - is the backbone of America,” said Kid Rock. “I wanted the design for the truck to be bold, but with features and elements that wouldn’t be out of reach for working-class guys.”
The result includes a custom chrome grille with the Born Free logo and an enlarged Chevy Bowtie emblem, chrome exhaust stacks and patriotic graphics that flow across the body sides.

According to the American truck manufacturer, a unique execution of the patriotic motif was one of the ideas the artist expressed from the very beginning. To the features mentioned above, exterior features such as a black metallic-flecked paint, 22-inch custom chrome wheels, tinted windows, chrome assist steps and a spray-in bed liner were also added.

On the inside, the truck was enhanced with unique Sky Cool Gray leather-appointed seats featuring metallic-appearing inserts patterned after acid-wash jeans. It also includes black carpeted floor liners and a blacked-out instrument panel with silver trim. Made in Detroit - logo sill plates and glovebox emblem and a custom Kicker sound system complete the project.

Since we are talking about Kid Rock here, Chevrolet also added a pair of Gibbs Sports Quadskis nicely secured on a trailer hitched to the truck.
