Nowadays you get everything 3D printed, from real life and functional cars to bicycles, RC cars and even Solar EV vehicles. It was about time somebody would create a racing game you can fully customize. But what makes 3D Racers really special is not only that you print small RC cars you drive on a toy track, but the fact that you use your smartphone to drive them.
Designed by a company based in Rome, Italy 3D Racers is a project currently under development that is looking for funds through a IndieGoGo crowd funding campaign. Its creators claim it’s the first indie physical game “that’s 3D printed, community driven, constructible, fully Open Source and with a gameplay borrowed from video games”.

Think of it as a toy race track you can adjust to whatever you wish for, one that uses cars you can drive with your phone using it exactly like a remote control.

Since we’re talking about 3D printed toys, not only do you have several templates you can choose from on the company’s website, but you can also create your own model cars. And don’t you worry about not owning a 3D printer, because the Italians - who have partnered up with 3DHubs - say they’ll do the job for you through a global network of more than 10,000 printing hubs.

Feel like you could build your own LeMans track? Good, because the track 3D Racers is offering is optional, since the racers run on any surface.

In fact, the only thing you really need is that little transistor board the Italians have designed and the app in case you don’t opt for the also optional remote controls, that also are 3D printed.
