The BMW M140i was a radical shift in the opposite direction. It was the Bavarian's way of showing us they can simplify things and take an efficient approach to performance. Don't get me wrong, this hatchback might have low running costs, but makes a lot of power. Riccardo of Living Life Fast, checked out a big-turbo M140i that sounds like it's running 2JZ internals (no offense to BMW purists).
Marcus bought the M140i in a standard setup. He first had it on Pure800 turbos, then switched to Pure800 with a Port methanol injection kit. It's currently has EFR Borg Warner turbos.
This BMW M140i is currently running 1.75 bar of turbo pressure, putting out 730 HP and 949 Nm of torque. It still has the stock block. The chassis has a track rear diff, fully poly-bushed whole rear, and underbracing. Stock, the M140i comes with a 3.0-liter straight-six turbo engine making 335 HP on a rear-wheel-drive setup.
Marcus installed a custom downpipe by EMF Fabrication, with a three-and-a-half-inch system added in the mix. He also put a custom three-inch front mount intake, running on port meth. It's also running on a stock gearbox.
On the exterior, the M140i has Michelin PS4 tires, comes with carbon mirrors and stock exhaust at the back.
Behind the wheel, the modded M140i takes off like a rocket. Riccardo feels it's ridiculous how capable this hatchback is, considering the wet weather. Off the mark, it spins, but the second it grabs the ground, it pulls forward - fast!
Marcus got a proper custom tune from WG Motor Works. It starts with limited boost on first and second gear and then goes all-out from third.
According to Marcus, it's one of the fastest customer-built cars running on Shell V-Power. The only ones above his M140i are running on race fuel. Asked if he's looking to pull out more from the Bavarian hatchback, he responds he's definitely going to amp it (but not that it needs it).
