Land Rover chief designer Gerry McGovern said that the company is working to give customers more customization options for the newly available models.
In an interview with CarAdvice, design director Gerry McGovern said that he and his team are focusing to create new options and custom trimmings for their customers to choose from, as the aftermarket tuning is annoying the automaker a bit.
“A lot of companies in Britain and other parts of the world, in Europe and Germany, take our vehicles and they dress them, they do a lot of cosmetic things to them. I find it slightly irritating because they always make them look slightly worse and yet they charge the consumer an extra $15,000-$20,000 for them, and the consumer, God bless them, are doing that because they just want something that is personal to them,” said Gerry.
Also, the company is worried about the brand’s integrity, as the customers who modify their cars at aftermarket tuners are losing the vehicle’s warranty.
