It’s already convertible season in America, as a bit of spring rain here and there isn’t going to scare off the keen drivers who want to go for that open-top cruise. However, what do you do when the drizzle turns into a shower?
The answer couldn’t be more simple, you push a button a the top comes up. However, there’s a difference between the protection offered by a convertible coupe with a folding metal roof and the cloth tops. Stiff roofs provide better soundproofing and give you that cocooned feel, not to mention you don’t have to take special care of the top in winter.
We recently came across this very interesting conversion for the Ford Mustang Convertible which has been turned into a hardtop. The mechanism is a bit slow, but still very interesting and simple. It kind of reminds us of the top on the Cadillac XLR sporscar. The conversion is done by Galpin Auto Sport, as in GAS from Pimp my Ride.
