Custom Ford Hot Rod Woody Wagon Up for Grabs

Seemingly synonymous with the Southern California surfer scene of the ‘50s and ‘60s, Woodys aren’t exactly known for their performance, but for their distinctive look. Now, one of the finest Woody examples, an ultra custom 1950 Ford Country Squire, is offered for grabs at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale event this week.

It features a powder-coated frame with a Fat Man Stage II Hub-to-Hub suspension kit, while power comes from a high-performance 302 Ford Windsor V8 small block with a custom Jimmy C. Ram Air system and a C4 automatic transmission with a 10-inch torque converter put together by Art Carr.

The engine bay is fully detailed with chrome and airbrushed graphics on the air cleaner assembly. The PPG paint scheme is complemented by mahogany wood panels. A one-off hood ornament, intricate pinstriping, a trick windshield sun visor, Custom Classics and Rods-supplied chrome wheels and tail lamps complete the look.

A result of a three-year, frame-off restoration project, the "WOODN8R" show car designed by Jimmy C. Kustoms and built by Randy Ward of Rod Benders Hot Rods, was displayed at the 2008 SEMA show in Las Vegas.

The Woody Hot Rod was also awarded with the title of one of the “Top Ten Attention Grabbing Vehicles” by Discovery Channel’s Turbo section.

The vehicle is currently owned by the guitarist of the “Eliminators” who helped redefine modern surf music. The buyer will also receive signed rare custom painted Fender Telecaster guitar and all the memorabilia from 1st Place Grand National Roadster Show and 1st Place Goodguys two years in a row.
