The post-apocalyptic world has become one of the predilect themes for designers during the last years, and we're proud to introduce you to Icon's visionary project for the aftermath: the Operator.
In a world past the zombie apocalypse or a nuclear holocaust all things are changed, from the biggest ones down to minute details, and this 1999 Ducati 990 Supersports was no exception. If you knew that bike, lay it to rest together with other sweet memories, as the present is so much different.
The 990SS has been stripped of all exterior eye candy dressing: no more shiny fairings, not a piece of plastic adorns the Operator any longer. It's all naked, mauled and bruised, bearing the marks of a violent past. The bent exhaust and acid scars on the frame all witness the harshness the Operator went through... and still it is ready for more.
The bright yellow tanks now shines dull under a flimsy coat of satin black, matching the ammunition crates used as sidecases. A minimalist LED headlight and a bent aluminium plate as a micro windshield complete the front end design of the Ducati Operator.
As long as we meet these bikes only once in a while, we can still be sure there's no zombie outbreak, but if we get to see more of these rat bikes, we might just start asking some questions. And pile up some food and ammo.
