The neo-retro BMW R nineT is quickly becoming a customizable classic, and even the company is rolling out some cool variations based on it. It’s such a nice platform to play with that even the girls are starting to love it. And there are already two female bike builders that will present one at SEMA this month.
Jessi Combs and Theresa Contreras are preparing a special R nineT for this year’s Specialty Equipment Market Association Show (SEMA), held between November 1st and 4th at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
BMW Motorrad is offering the R nineT in one single color for a purpose, you know? That’s because it is a two-wheeled canvas ready for all people out there to come up with their own style. And this marks the first time the bike gets customized exclusively by women.
Jessi Combs has a degree in custom automotive fabrication and is also considered as the “Fastest woman on four wheels”. She is an Ultra 4 National Champion and a Baja 1000 podium finisher along with having amazed people with her builds on TV shows like All Girls Garage, Mythbusters or The List: 1001 Car Things To Do Before You Die.
Theresa, on the other hand, is a machinist, a graphic designer, custom painter, wife, and mother. Her fine work has been already acclaimed in SEMA shows and top magazine covers before along with having been seen on TV in specialty shows and contributing to big successful projects in the industry.
“We are very excited to work with Jessi and Theresa on their R nineT customization project. They are well-known fabricators and fans of BMW motorcycles, so they bring some unique ideas to the welding table and to our highly customizable bike,” commented Sarah Schilke, National Marketing Manager, BMW Motorrad USA. “The SEMA Show, where the pair met four years ago, is the perfect venue to unveil their joint work, as the show draws some of the industry’s most innovative minds and inspires other motorcyclists to get creative themselves.”
