General Motors originally created the Chevrolet and GMC C/K series as nothing more than a workhorse, but the second-generation revision brought not only the “Action Line” tag but also a host of creature comforts. Surely, though, what could have been considered top of the line back in ‘69 now usually passes as obsolete. Not with this truck, though.
While we’re faced with a (very yellow) vintage truck in the form of a 1969 Chevrolet C10, the body-off restoration process is actually just the tip of the iceberg. After all, why shouldn’t anyone have the classic looks and all the amenities expected from a truck that’s half a century younger?
That was probably the end goal with this custom project, aside from the casual stand-out-in-any-crowd attribute (especially if it’s a green field!). That target was easily achieved with the sparkling yellow body color that would make even Tweety the yellow canary a little bit jealous.
According to the description, this ‘69 C10 is a far cry from the days of running around carrying stuff with nothing more than “a vinyl bench seat and rubber floor mats.” Instead, this Chevy made a serious leap forward to better compete with the restomod Ford F-100 crowd and whatnot.
As such, after the initial and very thorough restoration, the C10 received a 454ci (7.44-liter) V8 engine that was also dressed up with an Edelbrock Performer aluminum intake, Holley carburetor, March billet pulleys, and aluminum brackets.
This powerful work of art, proudly dubbed “The Heartbeat of America,” now sits in a color-matching engine bay and clears its meaty “throat” into a rumbling double exhaust system. It’s also mated to a 700R4 overdrive automatic transmission, and the new owner won’t ever feel the brunt of the drive thanks to amenities such as the power brakes and steering.
Moving inside, one will be greeted by a nice-looking beige cloth split-bench seat, tilt steering wheel column, and vintage air conditioning, among other things. The $34,900 price tag shouldn’t come as a surprise, though, because this truck has seen some action during its life - the spec sheet quotes some 71,238 traveled miles (almost 115,000 kilometers).
