Nissan has announced that the current-generation Rogue compact crossover will continue to be sold on the US market "for the immediate future" as the Rogue Select.
The model will be sold along the all-new 2014 Nissan Rogue, which is scheduled to go on sale starting November with a starting price of "less than $20,000".
The current Nissan Rogue is the company's second best-selling vehicle in the United States, with 142,349 units delivered in 2012, while 2013 sales have increased 16 percent through August. Details and pricing for the Rogue Select will be released closer to its on-sale date.
"As the compact SUV segment is becoming very specialized, there is an opening for a low-cost, high-content offering, which is a gap that Rogue Select will fill," said Fred Diaz, divisional vice president of sales and marketing at Nissan North America. "Rogue Select will allow Nissan to continue its strong performance in the segment, which will only get stronger once the all-new, US-built 2014 Rogue goes on sale."
