Cummins CTO Wins Engineering Oscar

Most people working in the automotive world are very passionate about their job and committed to achieving the impossible. As technological progress happens every day, some get recognized for their contribution to the auto world. This is just the case of Cummins Vice President and Chief Technical Officer John Wall, who has been elected to the National Academy of Engineering.

In the world of auto engineers, this is just like winning an Oscar, as the award recognizes an individual’s “outstanding contributions to engineering research, practice or education.” New members are elected each year by existing Academy members.

“I am humbled and honored by this recognition,”
Wall said. “I am fortunate to be able to work with some of the brightest engineering minds in the world and for a company that takes great pride in being a technical leader, and this honor is a reflection of the outstanding work done by Cummins employees around the world.”

Wall is 58 years old and joined Cummins in 1986 as an engineer in the Company’s Engine Business. Since March 2000 he has been leading Cummins’ worldwide technical organization.

“John has played a critical role in the transformation of our technical organization over the past decade, to the point where Cummins today views tightening emissions standards as a competitive advantage because of our technical leadership,” said Cummins Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Tim Solso. “John has made significant contributions to Cummins, our industry and the environment throughout his career and this honor is a fitting recognition for his work.”
