Cuban Cigars and Luxury Watches Are a Match Made in Heaven With This 10K Piece

Just in time for Habanos World Days, a three-day virtual version of the traditional Festival del Habano where tobacco lovers can learn about the origin and production of the Habano and Cohiba, Zenith has joined the celebrations with a limited timepiece – the Cohiba Cigars' 55th-Anniversary Chronomaster.

Inspired by the signature two-tone cigar case, the Swiss luxury watchmaker is reimagining one of its classics, the Chronomaster Open. The dial of this new timepiece is executed in the specific saffron-yellow tone for the lower part of the dial, and white-on-black checkered pattern for the upper part, taking on the style of the Cohiba papers that wrap each of the hand-rolled cigars.

Under the sapphire crystal, you'll find the beating heart of this limited watch, the El Primero 4061 automatic that can be seen through the window between 10 and 11 o'clock. Its hour-markers and hands are coated with a SuperLuminova layer to add a distinctive glow in the night.

Completing the classic faceted, rhodium-plated hands and applied indexes, the watch also includes a yellow chronograph seconds hand with a star-shaped counterweight, notes Europastar. The sub-dials for the 30-minute and 12-hour counters are executed in a silvery-white. Being a Chronomaster Open, this piece features a slot between 9 and 12 o'clock, revealing the hi-beat regulator and its purple-colored silicon escape wheel and lever.

The watch runs at 36,000 vibrations per hour (vph) and is pumped by a 50-hour power reserve. All this movement is encapsulated in a 42mm stainless steel case with a sapphire crystal front and case back bearing the Cohiba 55 logo. According to Luxferity, this 100 m (328 ft) water-resistant timepiece will come with a set of five special Cohiba cigars presented in a cobranded porcelain jar.

The Zenith Chronomaster Open will be a limited edition of 55 pieces, and it will be available from October this year at Zenith boutiques and select retailers for an exclusive price of $10K. For someone who likes to live their life like Don Vito Corleone, this watch is a must-have accessory.
