Crowd-Sourced Project Titan Takes to the Trails of Alaska

You know an adventure is going well when a press release starts with a location of “somewhere in Alaska,” which is exactly how Nissan started the release to update us on its progress of the Project Titan. After months of using its fans to crowd-source a design for a special version of the Nissan Titan, the truck has finally been finished and hit the trails.

Built to raise awareness for the Wounded Warrior Project, the truck will be driven by WWP Alumni and Iraq war veterans David Guzman and Kevin McMahon. The adventure kicked off last week, but Nissan just released the first images of the truck in action traversing the harsh Alaskan wilderness.

Earlier in the year, Nissan took to Facebook to come up with a design for the truck. The finished product is nothing short of amazing with a beast of a truck that should have no trouble powering through and over anything Alaska can throw at it. The Titan is fitted with a Nismo cold-air intake, Borla cat-back exhaust system, an ARB Deluxe Bull Bar, Bulldog LED Lighting and, most importantly, 18-inch Fuel Revolver D525 wheels wrapped in 35-inch Nitto Trail Grappler M/T tires. As a final touch, Project Titan gets a digital camo wrap.

While driving, Guzman and McMahon will be able to enjoy the Titan’s upgraded interior that received Katzkin leather-wrapped seats, but at night, the duo will be able to enjoy an all-terrain camping trailer that has been customized to a similar level as the truck itself. This trailer is a campsite on wheels integrating a tent, kitchen and storage for both water and fuel.

"The robust Titan serves as a great starting point for an adventure of this magnitude. With the help of Nissan's Facebook fan base, Project Titan is fully equipped for the Alaskan Frontier. I'm very much looking forward to following the Wounded Warrior Project team as they make their way through Alaska behind the wheel of Project Titan. This is the trip of a lifetime, and these veterans have all the essentials in this custom Nissan Titan to tackle many of the challenges the great wilderness will send their way throughout the journey," said Fred Diaz, senior vice president, Nissan sales and marketing and operations in the U.S.

Nissan will be documenting the entire trip and reporting back using its various social media channels.
