Quarter-mile drag racing aficionados know very well that surprises can arise from just about everywhere. So, it’s always best to keep an open mind when delving into the action.
Because of the vast number of possible configurations, one could say that even after watching years of dragstrip action no one should dare say they have seen everything. Still, even the mayhem needs a little order from time to time. So, the straight-line chaos has its categories.
From no-prep races to roll action and from intimate battles to larger-than-life events. Then, from import vs. domestic to stock vs. aftermarket, people have a knack for neatly setting everything into their little slot. Well, courtesy of the videographer behind the Jmalcom2004 account on YouTube, today we open the old vs. new cabinet, search inside the subtly tuned drawer, and retrieve the street against racing tire file.
Believe it or not, according to the description, the crimson S550 Ford Mustang GT featured as the focus of this video (embedded below) is allegedly packing a street tire configuration against Hoosiers for these intimate dragstrip encounters. Quite surprising, considering the front cookie cutters as well as the alleged Procharged setup hiding under the hood.
Anyway, we tend to believe all that, but feel free to point out any errors. As for the action, it’s not one for the faint of heart. First up, this “Red Ridin’ Good” (as someone pointed in the comments) faces off against a white Mustang GT sibling and quite easily beats the latter’s Hoosier setup into submission.
Then, it’s time to fight off the Chevy lot, first represented by a G-Body from the 1:20 mark. Again, it doesn’t stand a Hoosier chance, and after a quick solo run (at 1:52), it’s time for the main event. At least as far as we are concerned since the crimson and modern ‘Stang is ready to meet a classic El Camino from the 2:02 mark.
It’s a dark menace, and one that clearly stood a fighting chance even though it looked a bit worn down and beat up... but we’re not going to spoil the result!
