Crazy Color is a new option Mercedes introduced with the G-Class update. As the name suggests, customers can order colors that are out of the ordinary, bordering on mental asylum.
Before we go into the details of the tuning package, let's remind ourselves of what the "Crazy Colors" for the G63 imply. We think this color is Sunbeam Yellow and costs €15,350. Unless we're mistaken, this tone is borrowed from the SLS Black Series. There are others, such as Tomato Red, Sunset Beam, Alien Green and Galactic Beam.
The crazy color makes the G63 look like a bumblebee, especially with the gloss black trim we see here.
As fans of the G-Wagon may have already noticed, that's not the standard bumper. The aftermarket parts come from none other than Brabus, the authority on making mightier Mercs.
In this case, we know that the list of custom goodies include Brabus lightweight wheels, a front splitter with integrated daytime running lights, skirts, trim, a roof spoiler, and the exhaust system.
As you may have noticed from the number plates, the auto shop that's responsible for these updates is called RACE! and is from South Africa. They like to play with everything that goes fast, including bikes and supercars.
There's no mention of a power boost, but Mercedes has been considerate. The 2016 version of the 5.5-liter twin-turbo engine makes 27 horsepower more than before, for a total of 563 HP (573 PS) and 560 lb-ft (760 Nm) of torque. The AMG models also benefit from a two-tone instrument panel, two-tone leather seats with side bolsters in carbon-look leather and contrasting top-stitching, seat and door center panels in a diamond design, carbon-fiber trim and door grab handles in Nappa leather.
If you're not a fan of large outputs, you should know that the G500/550 now packs a 4-liter twin-turbo V8 delivering 420 PS and 450 lb-ft (610 Nm) of twist. The diesel option also increases its output from 211 PS to 245 PS and also receives 60 lb-ft more torque. So no matter what you buy, it's going to be faster than ever.
