We all know that you don’t visit a car crash rating website for artistic purposes, but one German artists begs to differ. His name is Dirk Skreber and he has put together a collection of cars wrapped around poles or in other post-crash states.
Skreber’s collection is about to reach the Milwaukee Art Museum, where it will be exhibited between November 7, 2013 and March 2, 2014.
The artist has perfected a series of controlled impacts in order to complete his work. The whole idea is rather shocking to the viewers, as the cars are taken out of the landscape that contributed to their crashes.
Thus, the beholder only sees the vehicle and the object it hit, an unnatural state which has a strong effect on one’s mind. The images below show the German’s installations from one of his earlier exhibitions, so you can get a pretty good idea on his work.
Prior to using cars, Skreber has impressed the world through his paintings and sculptures, which depict all sorts of catastrophic events, as well as the moments that follows them.
