Set to debut on the 7th of May on the National Geographic Channel, the "Breaking Barriers" documentary traces the history of land speed record attempts and the brave men that made it possible.
The Pennzoil sponsored feature film had its premiere in New York City on April 16, 2014, with special attendees such as Roger "The Captain" Penske of NASCAR and IndyCar fame, as well as John Hennessey, the father of Texas-based tuning specialist Hennessey Performance.

American country singer and actor Tim McGraw fills the role of presenter of the aforementioned documentary. Even though his daily driver is a 10-year-old Cadillac Escalade, even he feels the need for speed from time to time. The producers considered him to be perfect for the job thanks to its enthusiasm for all things with four wheels. Originating from Louisiana, cars were a big influence on Tim McGraw since he was a small boy.

His love for all things automotive can be seen in his car collection as well. A 1949 Chevrolet pickup truck currently resides in his garage among other collectibles, such as a vintage 1969 Mercedes-Benz saloon that his father bought with his bonus check after the New York Mets baseball team won the 1969 World Series.

From the promotional video you can watch below, we understand that the hour-long prime time documentary features the unconventional story of a "sacred brotherhood who risked their lives and dreamed big", broke records and influenced the automotive industry in their tireless pursuit for innovation and speed.

The Hennessey Venom GT also appears in the documentary, with commentaries from John Hennessey on the 270.49 mph record-breaking run set in February at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. American professional race car driver and five-time world land speed record holder Craig Breedlove, as well as British RAF fighter pilot and world land speed record holder Andy Green are also featured in the film.

Don't forget: May 7th, National Geographic Channel, 8 p.m. EST or 7 p.m. CT.
