Great motorcycle shows just don't seem to be 100% clean, so to speak, and the 2012 EICMA in Milan, Italy makes no exception. After the last year's incident with the Guardia di Finanza seizing the Yiben 250 ZKT, for a striking resemblance with Piaggio's MP3 scooter, the financial police seems to be back in business.
This time Guardia di Finanza had a lot of work to do, as it's about no less than six scooters being seized and two of the stands closed. The closed ones belong to Tao Tao and Ningbo Wanli Weiye and since all they had were the scooters being seized, it was the end of EICMA for them. As the other manufacturer had more than one bike on display, they're still open.

5 of the total of 6 scooters were electric models. The only combustion engine was the 150cc Roman by Tao Tao. The scooters being seized due to complaints filed by Vespa are: Roman by the TaoTao Group, WL 101Z by Ningbo Wanli Weiye International Trade Co., Luxury by Bertini S.r.l., Reset Ecologic by WRS S.r.l., Miami by E-Tropolis Italia S.r.l. and Milano by E-Tropolis Italia S.r.l.
