Coulomb Partners with Leviton, Siemens, Aker Wade

Perhaps the biggest alliance of electric vehicle solution providers is cooking up in the US, with Coulomb, Leviton, Siemens and Aker Wade planning a joint effort to take over the electric vehicles market.

The partnership will allow the chargers manufactured by each company to be connected into Coulomb's ChargePoint Network, a solution which helps consumers locate, access and use any of the chargers in the network.

The network will thus increase with the addition of Level I and II residential and public charging stations for the US and Canada (Leviton), Level I and II residential and public charging stations in the US, Canada and Europe (Siemens) and Level III networked fast charging stations for electric vehicles worldwide (Aker Wade).

“Coulomb’s partnership expansion brings significant features, benefits and access to the largest installed base of networked charging stations worldwide. Since 2007 Coulomb has made significant technological innovations in the development of the ChargePoint Network,” Richard Lowenthal, Coulomb CEO said in a release.

“This announcement is significant because having an open network interface, brings the customers of our partner EVSE manufacturers, regardless of hardware type, the ability to use the ChargePoint Network Operating System which has been serving customers since January of 2009.”

Yesterday, Coulomb also announced the introduction of the CT500 Level II ChargePoint for home and light commercial use. The CT500 chargers are 7.2 kw single output stations which deliver 208/240 V, 30A charging. The unit is compatible with Leviton’s Evr-Green EVSE installation system.

Coulomb will deploy its chargers in conjunction with Ford in several US states.
